GRACIE MACEACHERN

BALLET INSTRUCTOR

Gracie learned to walk in the halls of the Edmonton School of Ballet while her older sister took lessons. She would sneak into classes and had to be carried out while screaming, “Dance!” When she finally turned 3, she officially began her training. At 9 years old, Gracie was invited to join ESB Pre-professional Preparatory Program. At 12, she attended Vimy Ridge Academy, which partners with the ESB Pre-professional program. There, she studied classical ballet syllabi and repertoire, as well as modern, lyrical, and jazz. While she enjoys all styles of dance, she is a true bunhead at heart.

During her time at ESB, Gracie performed with the Edmonton Festival Ballet Company, dancing a variety of featured and solo roles. One of her favorites was the lead role of “Cat” in the company’s original production of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, along with presenting her own piece of choreography. During the summers, she attended intensives with Alberta Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and Ballet Austin. She has also taken master classes from Alberta Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Goh Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Edmonton City Ballet, and Cecchetti Society of Canada.

Gracie’s love of teaching led her to complete her Teacher Assistant Training at ESB in 2015. After graduating, she moved to Texas, where she taught ballet to all ages at Arabesque Studio of Dance. After getting married, Gracie and her husband relocated to Beaufort, where she taught Senior Ballet in both recreational and competitive programs at Alliance Dance Academy and Derrick Ballet Conservatory. Gracie and her husband are now happy to call Texas home.
