Chance hails from Ames, Iowa, where he began his training under Robert and Miyoko Thomas at The Robert Thomas Dance Center. He performed the title role in the Iowa State Center’s Nutcracker in 2014 before moving to New York City on scholarship to The Joffrey Ballet School. While in NYC, he trained with renowned Broadway professionals and performed leading roles, including the Prince in Cinder Blocks: An Old Skool Funky Tale. He also worked with Nickelodeon Studios as “Cat” and appeared in the Broadway production Seven Wonders while touring with Newsies. Chance completed his Dance Performance degree at Anderson University in Indiana and went on to dance with Gregory Hancock Dance Company, performing roles such as Clopin in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He has appeared as a guest artist with Indianapolis Ballet and Hinsdale Dance Academy, and later toured as a company member—and eventually solo artist—with Ballet 5:8. During his 2018–2020 seasons, he performed in numerous works by Julianna Slager, including The Space Between, Four Seasons of the Soul, Shades of Refrain, Strangers and Angels, All God’s Children, 4501, Brothers and Sisters, Splendors and Horrors, and Butterfly.
